The machine has no power, how can I correct this?

1. If the machine is new just out the box, please remove the Mylar label on the display.  The label blocks the display and it is difficult to tell if the machine is ON or OFF.                        

 

If the batteries are weak or the wrong power adapter is used, it can cause the machine not to power up.                         

                                                                       

2. If you are using batteries, check the installation of the batteries.  The top set of the batteries the "+" POSITIVE ends should points toward the top edge of the machine, pointing away from the cassette cover and the bottom set of the batteries the "+" POSITIVE ends should points toward the bottom edge of the machine, pointing toward the cassette cover.    

                                                                       

3. Replace ALL six "AAA" batteries, NOT just two or three batteries. 

 

4. If using an AC power adapter, check the rating of the adapter. The recommend adapter for this machine is the AD24, AD24ES, or the AD30.

 

The label on the AD24/24ES adapter, should list the OUTPUT as regulated 9VDC 1.6A.  The label should also indicate the + POSITIVE and the - NEGATIVE contacts of the adapter plug.  The outside surface of the tip at the end of the plug, should be + POSITIVE and the inside contact should be - NEGATIVE.

 

The label on the AD30 adapter, should list the OUTPUT as 7VDC 1.2A.  The label should also indicate the + POSITIVE and the - NEGATIVE contacts of the adapter plug.  The outside surface of tip at the end of the plug, should be + POSITIVE and the inside contact should be - NEGATIVE.

 

5. Ensure the AC adapter plug is firmly in the machine and try connecting adapter to a different electrical outlet.

 

If the problem persists, your machine may require service.             

                                                                       

The machine has a one year limited exchange warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-276-8437 for warranty options.
