How do I clear the message "Paper Jam Rear"?

Verify the message displayed on the LCD.

 

- If the message Paper Jam Rear is displayed continue to STEP 1.

 

- If a different message is displayed on the LCD refer to the necessary solution for the message being displayed.

 

1. Open the front Cover and remove the drum and toner unit.

 

 

 

Warning: If you just used the machine some parts inside the machine are extremely hot. 

 

2. Look inside the machine and remove any paper or paper scraps.

 

3. Turn the Brother machine around with the back of the machine facing you.

 

4. Open the back cover by pulling on the tab toward you.

 

 

 

5. The black plastic inner chute should spring open automatically when the back cover is opened.

 

 

 

NOTE: The inner chute has a diagram on it of a piece of paper being removed from the unit.

 

6. Pull any jammed paper put of the fuser unit. If the jammed paper cannot be easily removed, push down on the blue tab located on the right side and gently release the paper out of the right side with the other hand. Then, push down the blue tab on the left side and gently release the paper out of the left side with the other hand. Be sure to remove any small paper scraps.

 

 

 

7. Close the back cover.

 

NOTE: The inner chute will close automatically when the back door is closed.

 

8. Turn the machine around and place the drum and toner assembly back into the machine. Make sure it clicks into place

 

9. Close the front cover.

 

10. Press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

11. To test, print the Help List:

 

  1. Press the REPORTS key located on the right side of the control panel.

 

  1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select "Help List".

 

  1. Press MENU/SET. The report should begin printing.

 

-         If the machine prints okay with no error, the issue is resolved.  Discontinue troubleshooting.

 

-        If a different message is displayed on the LCD refer to the necessary solution for the message being displayed.

 

-        If the message Paper Jam Rear is displayed, continue to repeat STEPS 1 through 10 to clear the jam message. 

 

-        If the problem continues after repeating STEPS 1 through 10, remove the paper jam and then turn off the power switch for 10 seconds and turn it back on and go to STEP 12.

 

12. Print the Help List:

 

  1. Press the REPORTS key located on the right side of the control panel.

 

  1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select "Help List".

 

  1. Press MENU/SET. The report should begin printing.

 

-         If the machine prints okay with no error, the issue is resolved.  Discontinue troubleshooting.

 

-        If a different message is displayed on the LCD refer to the necessary solution for the message being displayed.
