How do I clear the message "Pls Wait" "Unable to Print"?

The message "Unable to Unable to Print "will appear on the display if there is a mechanical malfunction of the Brother machine and the machine will need to be reset. It can also be caused by the use of generic supplies.

Brother strongly recommends that customers do not use generic drum unitsand/or toner cartridges, or refill their Brother toner cartridge. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The Brotherlimited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the useof third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner. Generic toner cartridges can cause high stress on the machine#s drive system which maycause an Unable to Print message.

To reset the machine Turn OFF the Brother machine's power switch (located on the right side of the machine), wait approximately 30 seconds and then turn the switch back ON. If the error message continues to appear on the display, wait several minutes and then try powering the machine Off and On again.

NOTE: The Brother machine can be powered OFF for up to 4 days without losing faxes in memory.

If the date and time appear on the display, then the issue is resolved.

If the message continues to appear on the display you can verify and transfer faxes in memory to another fax machine.

NOTE: In order to transfer data from your fax machine to another, you must have the Station ID programmed in your Brother machine

Verifying and Transferring Faxes in Memory:

1. Press Menu/Set, 9 , 0, 1. Note: This menu option will only appear if the LCD is displaying an error message (example: unable to scan, no paper fed, etc). The menu option will NOT appear if a status message is displayed on the LCD (example: Toner empty).


a. If there are NO faxes in memory, the LCD will display NO DATA.

b. If there ARE faxes in memory you can transfer the Fax Journal (Step 3) and/or transfer the faxes in memory to another fax machine (Step 4).

3. To Transfer the Fax Journal:

a. Press Menu/Set, 9, 0, 2.

b. Enter the fax number where you want to receive and print fax journal.

c. Press Start.

d. If you want to transfer the faxes in memory to another fax machine continue to Step 4.

4.Transferring Faxes To Another Fax Machine

a. Enter the fax number to which faxes will be forwarded.

b. Press Start
