Why the machine does not turn on (no power) when using batteries?

Description of Solution 200000007812

1. If the machine is new just out the box, please remove the Mylar label on the display.  The label blocks the display and it is difficult to tell if the machine is ON or OFF.

2. Check the installation of the batteries.  Remove the batteries cover and compare the positioning of the + POSITIVE end of the batteries to the pictures above the batteries compartment. The top two batteries the + positive end should point towards the right. The middle two, the + positive end should point towards the left, and the bottom two should point towards the right.

3. Replace ALL six "AA" batteries, NOT just two or three batteries.

4. After pressing the On/Off key, press couple of the letter keys, check if the character shows on the display.

5. Try resetting the machine.

a. Hold down the SHIFT key and the R key.

b. While holding those two keys down, press and release the power On/Off key.

c. Release the SHIFT key and the R key.
