the faxes I send, copies I make and documents I scan into my

types of lines are typically caused by dirt or white out on the scanner
unit. The scanner unit is the mechanism that reads in the documents that
are being sent or copied. This problem is usually resolved by cleaning the white
pressure bar and the scanner glass strip with Isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free
cloth. Please follow the instructions listed below:
1. Power the Brother machine OFF using the power switch located on
the right side of the unit and then unplug the machine from the AC power
Lift the control panel cover to access the scan glass and pressure bar.

scanner cover glass in located directly below the pressure bar behind the metal
roller. Dampen a lint-free cloth with the Isopropyl alcohol and wipe down the
white pressure bar and glass.
Close the control panel cover.
Plug the power cord back in and turn the power switch ON. Wait for the LCD
to return to date and time.
Test the unit by making a copy of a blank sheet of white paper.

it in green and then press START.

scanner glass with the alcohol, run your fingertip over the glass to see if you
can feel anything on it. If you feel any debris stuck on the glass, clean the
glass again concentrating on that area. You may have to repeat the cleaning
process 3 or 4 times to eliminate all dirt or debris on the glass.
