Description of Problem 100000007535

How do I change the number of times the fax machine rings before it answers?

Description of Solution 200000009282

The Ring Delay setting determines the number of times your Brother machine rings before it answers in Fax Only or Fax/Tel Mode.  If your Brother machine shares a line with other telephones or if you subscribe to your telephone company's Distinctive Ring service, you should choose the maximum number of rings.

NOTE: When Toll Saver is on, it overrides the Ring Delay setting.  For more information about Toll Saver, refer to the solution: "What is Toll Saver and how do I program it?"

To change your Brother machine's Ring Delay setting, follow these steps:

1. Press MENU/SET, 2 (Setup Receive), 1 (Ring Delay).

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select the number of times you want the line to ring before the machine answers.

- You can select 00, 01, 02, 03, or 04 rings.

- If you press 00, the line will not ring at all.

3. Press the MENU/SET key.

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
