My Brother machine has no power. What can I do?

Description of Solution 200000009414

If the Brother machine appears to have no power, follow these steps to resolve the problem.

1. Verify the machine's power cord is connected to an AC outlet.

- If the power cord is connected to a surge protector or power switch, remove the cord from the surge protector or power switch and connect it directly to the AC outlet.

NOTE: This is for testing purposes only.  Removing the surge protector or power switch assists in determining if the problem is related to the Brother machine.  To protect your investment against power surges and lightning, Brother strongly recommends you connect your machine to a surge protector.  In particular, we suggest you use a surge protector that is compatible with both standard AC power cords and telephone line cords.  Surge protectors equipped with telephone jacks will assist in insulating the Brother machine from any power surge that might travel through a telephone line.

- If information appears on the LCD, the issue is resolved.

- If the LCD is blank, go to STEP 2.

2. Verify the AC outlet is working by plugging a known-working device directly into the outlet.

NOTE: If a wall switch controls the outlet, verify the switch is on.

- If that device does not work, the problem is related to the AC outlet or circuit.  Connect the Brother machine to a different, known-working AC outlet and contact a qualified electrician to repair the malfunctioning circuit.

- If that device works and your machine is within warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center (ASC) in your area by clicking on the link below:

- If your machine is out of warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center using the information listed above.
