Why is my machine not feeding the tape out?Description of Solution 200000018254
1. If the machine
is new just out of the box, ensure the packing material by the black roller is
a. Remove the back
cover and the cassette tape from the machine.
b. The packing
material is a white sponge tape about ½ inch wide x 2 inches long. Check the
area by the black roller and the tape exit area; remove any pieces of label or
foreign object that may be stuck inside the machine.
c. Ensure that the
end of the tape feeds under the tape guide (two small posts facing each other)
on the cassette. If the tape is out of the tape guide; you can reinsert
the tape under the tape guide.
d. Reinstall the
cassette tape back into the machine.
e. Re-attach the
back cover by inserting the two hooks on the bottom end of the back cover into
the slots on the bottom end of the machine, and then push the top edge of the
back cover down firmly on the machine until it snaps into place.
f. Feed the tape by
holding down the Shift key and then press the Print (Feed)
2. Ensure the back
cover is full closed; the machine will not feed the tape when it is not
3. If the batteries
are weak, the machine will not be able to advance the tape. Try replacing
all four “AAA” batteries in the machine, NOT just one or two. Follow the
picture in the batteries compartment on positioning the POSITIVE end of the
batteries. The bottom set of the batteries the POSITIVE ends should points
toward the top edge of the machine and the top set of the batteries the POSITIVE
ends should points toward the bottom edge of the machine.
4. Try installing
other cassette tape.
If the problem
persists, your machine may require service.
The machine has a
one year limited exchange warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother
