How do I turn on the Status Monitor?

The Status Monitor utility is a configurable software tool that allows you to monitor the status of one or more devices, allowing you to get immediate notification of errors such as a paper empty or paper jam.

 

 

- Windows Users

- Macintosh Users

- To Turn Off Of Close The Status Monitor:

 

 

 

 

WINDOWS USERS

 

Windows 7 or earlier: 

 

- Click Start => (All) Programs => Brother => XXX-XXXX => Status Monitor => XXX-XXXX.  The Brother Status Monitor will be displayed on the desktop or in the task tray by the system clock. 

 

 

Windows 8 (For the compatible MFL-Pro Suite software):

 

a.    Click  Brother Utilities

 

b.    Click the dropdown list to select your model if it is not already selected.

 

c.    Click Tools.

 

d.    Click Status Monitor.

 

 

2.  There are several different indications that the Status Monitor will display.

 

-         A green icon indicates the normal stand-by condition.

 

-         A yellow icon indicates a warning.  This icon will be displayed if one of more of the ink cartridges are near empty.

 

-         A red icon indicates an error has occurred.  This icon will be displayed if one or more of the ink cartridges are empty.

 

-         A gray icon indicates that the Brother machine is "offline".  There is no communication between the Status Monitor and the Brother machine.

 

3.  If your Status Monitor is in the task tray, you can double-click on the icon to view the ink level for each individual cartridge.  If your Status Monitor is on the desktop, the window displayed will indicate the current level of each individual ink cartridge.  The bar chart will show as follows:

 

-         Bk = Black

 

-         Y = Yellow

 

-         C = Cyan

 

-         M = Magenta

 

 

 

 

 

MACINTOSH USERS

 

1. Click the Macintosh HDD => Library => Printers => Brother => Utilities => Brother Status Monitor.

 

NOTE: You can also access the Status Monitor from the Open Print Queue (Utility) option of the Print & Fax or Print & Scan window.  The location will vary depending on your Operating System.

 

2.  There are several different indications that the Status Monitor will display.

TO TURN OFF OF CLOSE THE STATUS MONITOR:

 

Do one of the following:

 

-      Windows Users:  If the Status Monitor is in the task tray, right-click on it and select Exit.

 

-      Windows Users:  If the Status Monitor is on the desktop, right-click on it and select Close.

 

-      Macintosh Users:  Click the Red X in the top left corner of the Status Monitor window.
