Description of Problem 100000015609

How do I transfer or move or copy my PTouch library from an old computer to a new computer running a Windows Operating System?

Description of Solution 200000020114

The PTouch library was designed to keep track of all the label templates that you saved (e.g. C:\Users\<logon name>\Documents\My Labels) in your PC.  When you move to a new PC, the path on the old PC may not be the same as the path on a new PC.  Therefore, the PTouch Library may or may not work properly on the new PC.

Please do the following steps to copy the PTouch Library from the old PC to the new PC.

1.    Click on the Start button -for Windows 8 click on Desktop icon- and select My Computer or Computer

2.    For Windows 2000 or XP, double click on Local Disk C:Documents and Settings, logon name, Application Data, Brother, P-touch Library, 2.0

C:\Documents and Settings\logon name\Application Data\Brother\P-touch Library\2.0

3.    For Windows Vista, 7 or 8, double click on Local Disk C: Users, Logon Name, AppData, Roaming, Brother, P-touch Library, 2.0

C:\Users\Logon Name\AppData\Roaming\Brother\P-touch Library\2.0

Note: If you do not see the Application Data folder, click on Tool and select Folder Options. Click View tab, select Show Hidden Files and Folders, and then click OK. For Windows 7 or 8, go to Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, Folder Options, View tab, select Show Hidden Files and Folders, and then click OK.

4.    Right click on Library.idx, select Copy, Paste this file to the USB Flash drive or any external device, go to a new computer (see step 2 or 3 above for your computer OS) to rename the Library.idx to Library.old and then paste or transfer the Library.idx from the flash drive to a new PC.
