Why is the machine not feeding the tape out?

Description of Solution 200000020612

1. Push down on the cassette tape cover (top cover); unsure it is latched to the machine. The machine can not feed the tape if the coveris not closed.

2. Check that the cassette tape is not empty; there should be no vertical stripes on the ribbon. If there is, replace the cassette tape with a new one.

3. If the batteries are weak or the wrong power adapter is used, it cancause the machine not to feed the tape out.

a. If you are using batteries, replace ALL six AA batteries, NOT just two or three batteries. Follow the pictures in the batteries compartment on positioning the + POSITIVE end of the batteries.

b. If using an AC power adapter, check the rating of the adapter. The recommend adapter for this machine is the AD24 or AD60.

The label on the AD24 adapter, should list it is a Switching Adapter with the OUTPUT of 9VDC 1.6A. The label should also indicate the + POSITIVE and the - NEGATIVE contacts of the adapter plug. The outside surface of the tip at the end of the plug, should be + POSITIVE and the inside contact should be - NEGATIVE.

The label on the AD60 adapter, should list the OUTPUT as 9.5VDC 1300mA. The label should also indicate the + POSITIVE and the - NEGATIVE contacts of the adapter plug. The outside surface of tip at the end of the plug, should be + POSITIVE and the inside contact should be - NEGATIVE.

Using a wrong adapter can DAMAGE the machine internally and void the warranty. You can order the adapter directly from Brother Accessory Sales Department at 1-877-552-6255 or at our website at www.brothermall.com.

4. Try another cassette tape.
