When I attempt to print nothing happens, how can I correct this?

STEP 1: Check the connection between your Brother machine and the computer

A.   Make sure that the printer is turned on.

B.   Make sure that both ends of the USB cable are correctly inserted into the computer and the printer.

    1. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable at both ends.
    2. Disconnect the printer and the computer and reconnect them.
    3. Try another USB port if available.
    4. If you are using a USB hub or other type of pass thru device, the printer may not be correctly detecting the device.
    5. Please remove the device and connect the printers USB cable directly to the computer.
    6. Use a USB cable no longer than 6 feet long (2 meters).
    7. If you are using a network model, make sure that you have not accidentally connected the USB cable to the LAN port instead of the USB port.

C.   If you are using P-touch Editor Lite (PT-1230PC/PT-2430PC/PT-P700/PT-P750W, QL-700), make sure that the Editor Lite mode is disabled/Off.

For PT-1230PC/PT-2430PC users

Make sure that you move the mode selector switch on the back of the P-touch labeler to the "E" position.

For QL-700/PT-P700/PT-P750W users

If the Editor Lite lamp is lit, press and hold down the Editor Lite button until the Editor Lite lamp turns off.

 

STEP 2: Check the printer driver settings

Open the printer’s folder and check the following:

     Note: If you don't know how to open the printer’s folder, follow the steps below:

For Windows 8:
Click Control Panel in Apps screen => Hardware and Sound => Devices and Printers

For Windows 7:
Click Start => Devices and Printers

For Windows Vista:
Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Printers

For Windows XP:
Click Start => Control Panel => (Printers and Other Hardware) => Printers and Faxes.

(If Printers and Faxes is visible within the Start Menu, click on the Printers and Faxes icon.)

For Mac OS X Users:
Open System Preferences => Print & Fax

1.    Make sure that the printer status is ready.

 

a)   Change the icon view to Tiles and make sure that the printer status is ready.

 

b)   If the status does not change even after turning the printer on, reinstall the printer driver.

 

 

c)  If drivers with the same name such as "Brother XX-XXXX" and "Brother XX-XXXX (Copy 1)" are displayed, refer to:

 

 I have connected multiple printers of the same model to one PC but can only print from one of the machines



 

d)   Make sure there are no documents waiting to be printed.

                    I.        If you send a print job from the computer but it is interrupted or the print job is not completed for some reason, the job can get stuck in the computer's print queue.

 

                  II.        This makes the printer fail to respond to any print jobs. 

 

                III.        Delete all print jobs and retry printing.

 

How to delete all print jobs

 

For Windows Users:

a)   Open the printer folder and double click on the printer icon for your Brother machine, then choose Printer => Cancel All Documents => Yes

 

For Mac OS X Users:

Click Open Print Queue or Print Queue and choose the print job you want to delete. Click Delete.



STEP 3: Restart your Brother machine and the computer

It is possible that your computer's operating system may have become unstable, and need to be restarted.

 

Try restarting the computer.  When restarting the computer, close all

applications running on your computer, save all data, and then turn the printer off.

 

After restarting the computer, turn the printer back on again.

If the problem still occurs please continue to step 4 or 5 below depending on your operating system.

 

STEP 4: Reinstall the printer driver Windows Operating Systems

It's possible that the printer driver is not installed correctly.

Please turn off the P-touch Label printer and then click HERE to run the Ptsweep to uninstall the driver. 

Please download and reinstall the most current version of the driver from the Brother Website http://brother-usa.com/support

STEP 5: Reinstall the printer driver Macintosh Operating Systems

It's possible that the printer driver is not installed correctly.

Please follow the steps below to uninstall the printer driver, and then reinstall the printer driver.

Click Apple icon (top left corner), System Preferences and click Print & Scan.

Choose Brother xx-xxx, and click the  " - " button.

Close the Print & Scan window. The printer driver has been uninstalled.

Please download and reinstall the most current version of the driver from the Brother Website http://brother-usa.com/support
