Why is the tape jamming inside the machine?Description of Solution 200000022970
1. Open the back
cover and remove the cassette tape from the machine. Ensure the end of the tape
is fed under the tape guide at cassette tape corner. If not, it will feed out in
the wrong direction and causes the tape to jam. You can attempt to
reinsert the tape under the tape guide. The clear and color ink ribbons
need to be in under a separate tape guide.
Normally the color ink ribbon (behind the clear film ribbon) goes back into the
cassette. If it attaches to the backing tape (went between the clear and
backing tapes), then the cassette tape needs to be replaced.
After a label is printed, do not pull on the label, must cut off label from
cassette tape. If not, the cassette tape can be damaged and cause the next
label to jam inside the machine.
2. Check the
area by the two black rollers and the tape exit area, remove any pieces of label
or foreign objects that may be stuck inside the machine.
3. Ensure the
Cutter unit is in place. The Cutter unit consists of the two yellow
plastic parts by the tape exit slot.
4. Reinstall the
cassette tape and close the back cover. Ensure the cutter lever is not jammed.
Press down on the cutter lever and then release the lever. The cutter
lever should move about a 3/4-inch. When the lever is released, it should spring
back up to the initial position.
a. If the cutter
level jams, try removing the Cutter (the yellow plastic part closest to the
cutter lever) and reinstalling it back into the machine. The Cutter should
go straight down into the machine, do not twist the cutter when pushing it into
cassette tape, close the back cover, and check the movement of the lever
again. If the problem persists, your machine may require
b. If the cutter
lever moves OK, try printing out a test label. Be cautious of the cutter lever,
do not place your finger over it during printing; it can cause the cutter to
block the tape from coming out of the machine.
5. Try another
cassette tape. Be cautious of the cutter lever, do not place your finger
over it during printing; it can cause the cutter to block the tape from coming
out of the machine.
