How can I correct blurry print?

Description of Solution 200000024745

Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother ink for best results.  Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability since the ink formulation in genuine Brother ink cartridges prevent smearing and clogging of the print head.  The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that was caused by the use of third party ink and/or cartridges.

  • If you are using non-Brother ink cartridges or ink refill we recommend you replace the ink cartridges with genuine Brother Ink cartridges.

  • If you are using genuine Brother Ink cartridges follow the steps listed below to resolve this issue.

Print quality can also be affected by the type of paper you are using in the machine. For best results, we recommend using  Brother paper.

Listed below are Brother paper products compatible with your machine and the paper specifications:

  • Your Brother machine’s paper tray holds up to 100 sheets of 3.5 in. x 5 in. photo paper to 8.5 in. x 14 in. legal size paper.
  • General paper weight for use in the machine should be 17 lbs to 58 lbs.
  • You can use plain paper, inkjet paper (coated paper), glossy paper, transparencies and envelopes. We recommend testing various paper types before buying large quantities:

PLAIN PAPER

  • The recommended plain paper for this machine is Letter (8.5 in. x 11 in): BP60PL100 (USA only)
  • You can load up to 100 sheets of letter size paper (17 lb to 32 lb) in the paper tray.

INKJET PAPER

  • The recommended plain paper for this machine is  Letter Inkjet (Matte) (8.5 in. x 11 in): BP60ML (USA only)
  • You can load up to 25 sheets of inkjet paper (17 lb to 53 lb) in the paper tray.

GLOSSY PHOTO

  • The recommended glossy photo paper for this machine is Letter (8.5 in. x 11 in): BP71GLTR and 4 in x 6 in: BP71GP
  • You can load up to 20 sheets of Glossy Photo paper (up to 58 lb) in the paper tray.

NOTE:

  • When you print on Brother Photo Paper, load one extra sheet of the same photo paper in the paper tray. An extra sheet has been included in the paper package for this purpose.
  • When you use photo paper, remove each sheet as it is ejected from your Brother machine to prevent smudging or paper jams.

ENVELOPES

  • You can load up to 10 envelopes (20 lb to 25 lb) in the paper tray.

TRANSPARENCIES

  • We recommend using 3M Transparency Film
  • You can load up to 10 transparencies in the paper tray.
  • When you use transparencies, remove each sheet as it is ejected from your Brother machine to prevent smudging or paper jams.

DO NOT use any of the following types of paper:

  • Damaged, curled, wrinkled or irregularly shaped paper.
  • Extremely shiny or highly textured paper.
  • Paper that cannot be arranged uniformly when stacked.

Clean the encoder strip on both sides with a soft dry cloth (EX: T-shirt, dry eye glass cleaner cloth, dry monitor cloth, wash cloth).  DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF PAPER PRODUCTS (EX: paper towel, tissue paper, napkin, filter, news paper etc.)  This will help ensure that the dirt will be removed from the encoder strip.
