Why is the STATUS lamp flashing RED?

Press the On/Off button once to stop the STATUS LED lamp from flashing Red and check the following that may cause the problem.

1. The width of the label selected in P-touch Editor does not match the cassette tape size in the printer; ensure they are the same size.

2. The tape type selected in P-touch Editor (High Speed HG Only, High Resolution HG Only, or Standard TZ or HG) does not match the tape type (TZ / HG) in the printer; ensure they are the same type.

NOTE: There is label on top of the cassette tape indicates the Size and Type.

3. Ensure that the cassette tape is not empty. There should be no vertical stripes on the tape ribbon. If there are vertical stripes, replace the cassette tape with a new one.

4. If the cassette tape is the correct type and not empty, turn the machine OFF and then back ON again.

5. A communication error between the PC and the printer will also cause the problem.

a. Disconnect the cable between PC and printer; examine the cable for abnormality and reconnect the cable.

b. Try another cable between the PC and printer.

c. Try connecting the cable to another port or PC.

d. Uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.

 If the problem persists, your machine may require service.  

The machine has a two year limited depot warranty. If the machine requires service, call Brother Mobile Solutions Customer Service at 1-800-255-0415 Monday through Friday, excluding holidays for a Return Authorization number.
