The machine does not turn on (no power) when using an AC adapter, how can I correct this?

If the wrong power adapter is used, it can cause the machine not to power up.            

 

1. The recommend adapter for this machine is the AD24ES or AD24.

 

The label on the adapter should indicate that it is an AD24ES or AD24, a Switching Adapter with an Output of 9V 1.6A. The label should also indicate the + POSITIVE and the - NEGATIVE contacts of the adapter plug.  The outside surface of the tip at the end of the plug should be + POSITIVE and the inside contact should be - NEGATIVE. 

 

Using a wrong adapter can DAMAGE the machine internally, not covered by the warranty.  You can order the adapter directly from Brother Accessory Sales Department at 1-877-552-6255 or at our website at http://www.brothermall.com.     

                                                                        

2. If the machine is new just out the box, please remove the protective film on the display.  The film blocks the view, may cause difficulty to distinguish if the machine is ON or OFF.

 

3. After pressing the On/Off key, press couple of the letter keys, check if the character shows on the display.

 

4. Try connecting the adapter to a different electrical outlet.

 

5. Try power up the machine with 6 “AA” alkaline batteries (ensure that the adapter plug is disconnected from the machine).  If the machine turns on, the adapter could be bad.

 

If the problem persists, your machine may require service.

 

The machine has a two year limited exchange warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.
