The Drum and Error LEDs are lit OR the Status Monitor states DRUM STOP. What should I do?

Description of Solution 200000029013

If the status monitor displays the message DRUM STOP or if the Drum LED (yellow) and Error LED (amber) are lit solid, the drum unit is at the end of its life and must be replaced with a new drum unit (DR420).

The drum unit is a consumable item, and it is necessary to replace it periodically. There are many factors that determine the actual life of the drum, such as temperature, humidity, type of paper and how much toner you use for the number of pages per print job. The estimated drum life is approximately 12,000 pages A4 or Letter size single-sided pages at 1 page per job. Because of the many factors affecting the actual drum life, we cannot guarantee a minimum number of pages to print from your drum. The part number for the drum unit is DR420.

Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations.  Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.
