The Error LED is flashing. What can I do?

Description of Solution 200000029074

When the Error LED is flashing, the Status Monitor may display "Memory Full", "Print Overrun", "Front Cover Open", "Fuser Cover Open", "Size Error DX", "Duplex Disabled", "Jam Tray1", "Jam Inside", "Jam Rear", or "Jam Duplex".

1. Verify that no other LEDs are on or flashing.

- If no other LEDs are on or flashing, go to STEP 2.

- If the Toner, Drum, and/or Ready LED are on or flashing, refer to the appropriate solution for the specified LED combination.

2. Verify whether the Error LED is flashing or solid/steady.

- If the Error LED is flashing, go to STEP 3.

- If the Error LED is solid/steady, refer to the solution for "The Error LED stays on. The Status Monitor states No Paper T1 or Manual Feed. What can I do?"

3. Press the GO button.

- If the Error LED continues to flash, go to STEP 4.

- If the Error LED turns off and printing resumes, refer to the solution for "The Status Monitor states Memory Full or Print Overrun, what should I do?"

4. Verify that none of the covers are open:

a. Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner.

b. Open the back cover (face-up output tray).

c. Pull down the tabs at the left and right hand sides to open the fuser cover.

d. Close the fuser cover.

e. Close the back cover (face-up output tray).

f. Remove the duplex tray.

g. Firmly reinsert the duplex tray.

h. Reinstall the drum and toner and close the front cover.

5. If the Error LED continues to flash after performing the steps above, verify whether the size of the paper is Letter, Legal, A4 or Folio.

- If the paper size is not Letter, Legal, A4 or Folio, go to STEP 6.

- If the paper size is Letter, Legal, A4 or Folio, go to STEP 7.

6. Are you attempting to print using the duplex feature? The duplex print feature is compatible with Letter, Legal, A4 and Folio paper sizes only. Attempting to duplex print with any other paper size will result in an error indicated by the Error LED flashing.

- If you are attempting to duplex print, you will need to use paper that is Letter, Legal, A4 or Folio size.

- If you are not attempting to duplex print, go to STEP 7.

7. If the Error LED continues to flash after performing the steps above, refer to the solution for "The paper is jamming. The Status Monitor displays "Jam Tray 1", "Jam Inside", "Jam Rear", or "Jam Duplex". What can I do?"
