How do I uninstall the printer driver in Windows?

Complete the following steps based on the computer's operating system:

 

Windows XP, Server 2003

Windows Vista, 7, Server 2008, 2008 R2

Windows 8, 8.1, Server 2012

 

 

 

Windows XP, Server 2003:

 

1.    Click Start => Programs => Brother => HL-XXXX (XXXX is the model number of the Brother machine).

 

NOTE: If Brother is not listed under Programs, go to Download the Uninstall Tool.

 

2.    Select Uninstall from the list.

 

3.    Click Yes To All for any windows that pop up during the uninstallation.

 

4.    Click OK to close the unstaller.

 

5.    Restart your computer.

 

 

 

Windows Vista, 7, Server 2008, 2008 R2:

 

1.    Click  => All Programs => Brother => HL-XXXX (XXXX is the model number of the Brother machine).

 

NOTE: If Brother is not listed under Programs, go to Download the Uninstall Tool.

 

2.    Select Uninstall from the list.

 

3.    Click Yes To All for any windows that pop up during the uninstallation.

 

4.    Click OK to close the unstaller.

 

5.    Restart your computer.

 

 

 

Windows 8, 8.1, Server 2012:

 

1.    On the desktop, click  Brother Utilities.  

 

NOTE:  If you are on the Start screen, move your mouse to the lower left corner of the Start screen.  Right-click the screen and then left-click Desktop. 

 

NOTE: If Brother Utilities is not listed, go to Download the Uninstall Tool.

 

2.    Click the dropdown list to select your model if it is not already selected.

 

 

3.    Click Uninstall. If prompted, you may need to click Yes to run the program. 

 

4.    The uninstall will now continue.  You may be prompted to confirm the uninstall procedure. If so, click OK.

 

5.    Once this is complete you will see a window stating: For successful uninstallation, you must restart Windows.  Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now. And click Finish

 

 

 

 

 

Download the Uninstall Tool

 

1.    Download the Uninstall Tool. For instructions on how to navigate the Brother website to download the software, please click here.

 

2.    If you chose to Save the file, double-click the file.

 

If you chose to Run the file, it will run automatically.

 

3.    Click Decompress and OK.

 

4.    Open the rempnp folder that was created on the desktop or in the location where you saved the downloaded file.

 

5.    Double-click the file BrRemPnP.exe.

 

6.    Select the model machine that you want to remove, and click OK.

 

 

7.    Click OK when prompted.
