1. Open the back
cover; ensure the Cutter Blade unit and the Cutter Board are installed in the
Cutter Blade unit and Cutter Board are the two yellow plastic parts by the tape
2. Ensure that the
back cover is latched onto the machine; the cutter will not work if it is not
3. Ensure the
cutter lever is not jam. Press down on the cutter lever and then release
the lever. The cutter lever should move about 3/4-inch. When the
lever is released, it should spring back up to the initial position.
a. If the cutter
level jams, try removing the Cutter Blade unit (yellow plastic part closest to
the cutter lever) and reinstalling it back into the machine. The Cutter
unit should go straight down into the machine. Close the back cover, and
check the movement of the lever again. If the problem persists, your
machine may require service.
b. If the cutter
lever moves OK; open the back cover, lift up the Cutter Board and rotate it 180
degree, so that the opposite side of the board is facing the cutter blade. Close the back cover and try cutting off
4. Try replacing
the Cutter Blade and Cutter Board (accessory stock # TC5).
If the problem
persists, your machine may require service.
The machine has a
one year limited exchange warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother
