Why does the machine display "INSERT TAPE CASSETTE!"?

The machine does not recognize the tape cassette installed in the machine, please follow the steps below.

 

1. Turn Off the machine and remove the back cover.

 

2. Remove the tape cassette from the machine.

 

3. In the lower-right corner of the tape cassette compartment, there are five small black posts stick out of the compartment.  These are sensors to detect the cassette tape installed in the machine.  They all have a spring inside pushing it upward.  Visually check if any sensor stuck in the down position or physically damaged. 

 

4. Re-install tape cassette back into the tape compartment.  Push down on top of the cassette; ensure that it is seated firmly in the tape compartment and re-install the back cover.

 

5. Turn On the machine and try printing a label.

 

6. If the error message appears, try another tape cassette.

 

If the problem persists, your machine may require service.

 

The machine has a two year limited exchange warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.
