I am unable to print or scan using the iPrint&Scan feature on my Apple mobile device. What can I do?

In order to print using the Brother iPrint&Scan app, you must ensure that the Brother machine is connected to the same network as the Apple Mobile device.  Your Apple Mobile device must connect by Wi-Fi using either:

 

-      An Ad-Hoc connection directly to the Brother machine. See Fig 1.

 

-      An Infrastructure connection to the SAME network that your Brother machine is connected to.  See Fig 2.

 

The Brother machine can be connected using either a Wired Ethernet or Wireless connection to the router depending on the available connection type of your machine.

1. Ensure that the Brother machine is powered on and there are no errors on the Machine. 

 

NOTE:  If there is an error message, you will need to clear that particular message.

 

2. Ensure that the Brother iPrint&Scan app is installed on your mobile device and that you are using the latest version.  If it is not installed, please visit the App Store to download the app.

 

 

NOTE: For assistance downloading the app from the App Store, please refer to your mobile device's documentation or contact Apple for support

 

3. Your mobile device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the Brother machine is connected to.  You will not be able to use this feature while connected through 3G/4G, etc.  

 

NOTE:  For assistance connecting your Apple mobile device to your network, please contact your device manufacturer, Network Admin or Router Manufacturer for support.

4. Open the Brother iPrint&Scan app.

 

5. Tap Print or Scan.

 

 

6. Tap the option for the type of document you want to print.  The steps will vary based on the type of document that you are printing.

 

NOTE: Tap Menu or Cancel to return to the main screen.  The option will vary based on the type of document you selected.

 

7. Browse to or tap the desired document or photo.

 

8. If prompted, confirm the document or photo on the Print Preview screen.  You may have to click Print Preview to see this screen.

 

9. Tap the  Gear icon and tap the Printer field.  The app will search for your machine.

 

NOTE: If your machine is not listed or you receive a message stating "No Supported Devices Found", then there is no communication between your Brother machine and you Apple Mobile Device:

 

-      Ensure that the Brother machine is on the same network with the Apple mobile device.

 

-      Cycle the power on your mobile device and search again. You may have to wait a minute or more for the machine to appear.

-      If you are still unable to locate the Brother machine, uninstall and reinstall the Brother iPrint&Scan app from the App Store.  If you need help reinstalling the app, please contact your mobile device manufacturer for support.

 

10. Once the device has been selected you may now attempt to print or scan using the app.  If you still cannot print, try to print a different document.  The issue may be related to the specific document that you are using.
