When attempting to print in Macintosh OS X 10.5 or 10.6 I receive an error stating: Client Error Not Possible. What can I do?

This issue occurs if you have installed incompatible software onto your Mac. 

Ex: You are running OS 10.5 and downloaded the drivers for OS 10.6.

 

NOTE: If the bundled drivers have became corrupted by an attempted installation of incorrect drivers from the Brother Software CD-ROM or from the Brother Support website you will need to reinstall the Brother Driver package from the Apple website.

 

Disconnect the USB cable from the Brother machine.

 

1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax, select your HLxxx in the Printer list and click the [-] below the list to remove it.

 

2. Close Print & Fax.

 

3. Open Macintosh HD è Library è Printers è Folder and drag the Brother folder to the Trash bin.

 

4. Select Macintosh HD è Library è Printers è PPDs è Contents to open the Resources folder, and drag all Brother xxx-xxxx CUPS.gz files and Brother xxx-xxxx.gz files into the Trash bin.

 

5. Restart the Macintosh.

 

Installing Drivers from the Apple Website:

1. Open your browser and navigate to: 

·         10.5 users go to: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL55?viewlocale=en_US

·         10.6 users go to: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL894

2. Click on the DOWNLOAD icon. The download will begin.

3. Once the download is completed double click on the Brother PrinterDriver.pkg to run the application if it does not run automatically.

4. A message stating: WELCOME TO THE BROTHER PRINTER DRIVER INSTALL will appear. Click CONTINUE.

5. The SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT will now appear. Click CONTINUE to proceed, and you will be prompted to click AGREE to the license agreement in order to continue.

6. The next screen will be titled STANDARD INSTALL ON DRIVE NAME (Drive name is the HD you choose). Click INSTALL. You may be prompted to enter the administrative password to proceed.

7. Installing Brother Printer Drivers will now appear on the screen. When the install is completed you will be notified INSTALL SUCCEEDED. Click CLOSE.

8. You may now reinstall the printer driver and your printing issue will be resolved. Be sure to use the compatible cd or download your OS.
