1.    Ensure that you are logged on to your computer with Administrator rights.

2.    Close any applications running before installing the printer driver.

3.    Turn off the Brother machine and make sure the USB interface cable is NOT connected before attempting to install. If you have already connected the cable, disconnect it.

4.    Download the Full Driver & Software Package.  For instructions on how to navigate the Brother website to download the software, please click here

5.    Choose your Country/Language and click OK

WARNING:  US English speakers should select USA, not ENG.

6.    After reading and accepting the License Agreement, click Yes if you agree to the terms.

7.    Choose Local Connection (USB) and click NEXT.

8.    When prompted, connect the USB cable to the USB port on the back of the Brother machine and then connect the cable to a USB port on your computer.

WARNING for HL2270DW and HL2275DW:  There are two ports on the back of the Brother machine. The USB port is the bottom port. The Ethernet port is the top port. Verify you are connecting the USB cable to the USB port and not the Ethernet port.

NOTE: If the installation does not automatically continue after connecting the USB cable, check the following and click OK.

-       Check the Brother machine is powered on and there are no error messages on the display.

-       Disconnect the USB cable from the Brother machine and computer and reconnect the cable.

-       Try another USB port on the computer.

12. When the On-Line Registration screen is displayed, you can click Brother Registration and follow the on-screen instructions.  Once you have completed the registration or if you have already registered your Brother machine, click Next.

13. When the "Setup Complete" window appears, make the following selections, and then click Finish:

-       You may select Enable Status Monitor on Startup, which is a software tool for monitoring device status and error notification from your PC.
