How do I store numbers on my Brother machine for easy dialing?

You can store One Touch and Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine for easy dialing.  If you lose electrical power, One Touch and Speed Dial numbers stored in your Brother machine's memory will not be lost.

STORING AND USING ONE TOUCH NUMBERS

 

Your Brother machine has 10 One Touch keys on which you can store up to 10 fax or telephone numbers for automatic dialing.

 

- To store One Touch numbers, go to OPTION 1.

 

- To dial an existing One Touch number, go to OPTION 2.

 

- To change or delete an existing One Touch number, go to OPTION 3.

 

 

OPTION 1: STORING ONE TOUCH NUMBERS

 

To store One Touch numbers from the Brother machine's control panel, follow these steps:

 

1. Press FUNCTION, 6 (Set Auto Dial), 1 (One-Touch Dial).

 

2. Press the ONE TOUCH key on which you want to store the number.

 

- One Touch key 01 is pre-programmed with for Brother's Fax-Back System, but you can override it by following these steps.

3. Enter the fax or telephone number you want to store.

 

- The number can be up to 20 digits long.

 

- You can press the REDIAL/PAUSE key to enter a 3.5-second pause in the dialing sequence.

 

You can repeatedly press the REDIAL/PAUSE key to make the pause as long as needed.

 

4. Press the SET key.

 

5. Do one of the following:

 

- Use the dial pad to enter the name or company name you are storing. 

 

The name can be up to 15 characters long.

 

- To store the number without a name, go to STEP 6.

 

6. Press the SET key.

 

7. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to select the type of number you're storing.

 

- FAX: a fax-only number.

 

- TEL: a voice telephone number.

 

- FAX/TEL: a fax and telephone number.

 

- CHAIN: a number—usually an access code—used for chain dialing.

 

8. Press the SET key.

 

9. Do one of the following:

 

- Go back to STEP 2 to store another One Touch number.

 

- Press the STOP key.

 

10. Print an All Dial list or Tel. Index list to confirm the numbers have been stored:

 

NOTE:

 

- The All Dial list is a numerical list of all names and numbers in One Touch and Speed Dial memory.

 

- The Tel. Index list is an alphabetical list of all names and numbers in One Touch and Speed Dial memory.

 

a. Do one of the following:

 

- Press FUNCTION, 7 (Print Reports), 2 (All Dial).

 

- Press FUNCTION, 7 (Print Reports), 3 (Tel-Index).

 

b. Press the START key.

 

- Your Brother machine will print the All Dial list or Tel. Index list.

 

c. Press the STOP key.

 

 

OPTION 2: DIALING A ONE TOUCH NUMBER

 

Once you have stored a One Touch number, you can dial it by pressing the ONE TOUCH key on which you stored it.

 

 

OPTION 3: CHANGING OR DELETING AN EXISTING ONE TOUCH NUMBER

 

To change or delete an existing One Touch number, follow these steps:

 

1. Press FUNCTION, 6 (Set Auto Dial), 1 (One-Touch Dial).

 

2. Press the ONE TOUCH key with the number you want to change or delete.

 

- Your Brother machine's LCD will display the name or number stored at that One Touch location with the message "1. Change 2. Exit."

 

3. Press 1.

 

4. Do one of the following to change or delete the currently stored number:

 

- To replace digits, follow these steps:

 

a. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the digit you want to replace.

 

b. Type the new digit.

 

 

- To delete the entire number, follow these steps:

 

a. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the leftmost digit.

 

b. Press the STOP key.

 

c. Go to STEP 7.

 

5. Press the SET key.

 

6. Do one of the following to change or delete the currently stored name:

 

- To replace characters, follow these steps:

 

a. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the character you want to replace.

 

b. Use the dial pad to type the new character.

 

 

- To delete the entire name, follow these steps:

 

a. Press the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key to position the cursor under the leftmost character.

 

b. Press the STOP key.

 

c. Go to STEP 7.

 

 

- If no name exists and you want to store the number without a name, go to STEP 7.

 

7. Press the SET key.

 

8. Do one of the following:

 

- To change or delete another One Touch number, go back to STEP 2.

 

- Press the STOP key.

 

 

 

STORING SPEED DIAL NUMBERS

 

You can store up to 15 two-digit Speed Dial numbers on your Brother machine.  You can save a name with each number.

 

- To store Speed Dial numbers, go to OPTION 4.

 

- To dial an existing Speed Dial number, go to OPTION 5.

 

- To change or delete an existing Speed Dial number, go to OPTION 6.

2. Use the dial pad to enter the two-digit Speed Dial number you want to dial.

 

3. Press the START key on the Brother machine to dial the number.

 

 

OPTION 6: CHANGING OR DELETING AN EXISTING SPEED DIAL NUMBER

 

1. Press FUNCTION, 6 (Set Auto Dial), 2 (Speed-Dial).

 

2. Use the dial pad to enter the two-digit Speed Dial location on which you want to store the number.

 

- You can enter 01 through 15.

 

3. Press the SET key.

 

- Your Brother machine's LCD will display the name or number stored at that Speed Dial location with the message "1. Change 2. Exit."

 

4. Press 1.

 

5. Do one of the following to change or delete the currently stored number:
