How do I adjust the various volume settings on my Brother machine?

Your Brother machine has four adjustable volume settings: Ring Volume, Beeper Volume, Speaker Volume, and Handset Volume.

 

CHANGING RING VOLUME

 

You can adjust the ring volume while your Brother machine is idle by following these steps:

 

1. Press the FAX key.

 

2. Press the LEFT AND RIGHT ARROW key to adjust the volume.

 

- You can select LOW, MED, HIGH, or OFF.

 

- Each key press changes the volume to the next setting, and the LCD shows the setting you are choosing.

 

- The new setting will remain until you change it again.

 

 

You can also change the Ring Volume by following these steps:

 

1. Press MENU, 1 (General Setup), 3 (Volume), 1 (Ring).

 

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select LOW, MED, HIGH, or OFF.

 

3. Press the OK key.

 

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

 

CHANGING BEEPER VOLUME

 

You can set the Brother machine's Beeper Volume to LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH, or OFF.

 

When the Beeper Volume is set to LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH, the Brother machine beeps every time you press a key or make an error and at the end of the sending and receiving processes.

 

To change the Beeper Volume, follow these steps:

 

1. Press MENU, 1 (General Setup), 3 (Volume), 2 (Beeper).

 

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select LOW, MED, HIGH, or OFF.

 

3. Press the OK key.

 

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

 

CHANGING SPEAKER VOLUME

 

You can change the Speaker Volume by following these steps:

 

1. Press MENU, 1 (General Setup), 3 (Volume), 3 (Speaker).

 

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select LOW, MED, HIGH, or OFF.

 

3. Press the OK key.

 

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

 

CHANGING SPEAKER VOLUME USING THE HOOK/HOLD KEY

 

You can also change the Speaker Volume setting by using the HOOK/HOLD key:

 

1. Press the FAX key.

 

2. Press the HOOK/HOLD key.

 

3. Press the LEFT AND RIGHT ARROW key to adjust the volume.

 

- You can select LOW, MED, HIGH, or OFF.

 

- Each key press changes the volume to the next setting, and the LCD shows the setting you are choosing.

 

- The new setting will remain until you change it again.

 

 

CHANGING THE HANDSET VOLUME

 

You can change the Brother machine's handset volume by following these steps:

 

1. Press MENU, 1 (General Setup), 3 (Volume), 4 (Handset).

 

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select HIGH or LOW.

 

3. Press the OK key.

 

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key.

 

 

VOLUME AMPLIFY FOR THE HEARING-IMPAIRED

 

If one or more people who are hearing-impaired use the machine, you may turn its Volume Amplify feature on.  The amplified volume level complies with FCC standards.

 

These Volume Amplify settings are available:

 

VOLUME AMPLIFY: OFF This default setting is appropriate if none of the machine's users are hearing-impaired.

 

You can adjust the handset volume by pressing the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key while you are talking on the handset.  The available volume settings are LOW and HIGH.  When you replace the handset, the handset volume will remain at the last setting you selected.

 

VOLUME AMPLIFY: ON � TEMPORARY This setting is appropriate if some of the machine's users are hearing-impaired.

 

You can adjust the handset volume by pressing the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key while you are talking on the handset.  The available volume settings are LOW, HIGH, and AMPLIFY. When you replace the handset, the handset volume returns to LOW, its default setting.

 

VOLUME AMPLIFY: ON � PERMANENT This setting is appropriate if all of the machine's users are hearing-impaired.

 

You can adjust the handset volume by pressing the LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW key while you are talking on the handset.  The available volume settings are LOW, HIGH, and VOLUME AMPLIFY.  When you replace the handset, the handset volume returns to VOLUME AMPLIFY.

 

WARNING! Do not choose PERMANENT unless all of your Brother machine's users are hearing-impaired.  Otherwise, the default setting of VOLUME AMPLIFY may damage some users' hearing.

 

 

SETTING VOLUME AMPLIFY

 

NOTE: Please read Volume Amplify for the Hearing-Impaired above before following these steps.

 

1. Press MENU, 1 (General Setup), 3 (Volume), 5 (Volume Amplify).

 

2. Do one of the following:

 

- If no people with hearing impairment use the machine, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Vol Amplify: Off and go to STEP 5.

 

- If one or more people with hearing impairment use your Brother machine, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Vol Amplify: On and go to STEP 3.

 

3. Press the OK key.

 

4. Do one of the following:

 

- If everyone who uses the machine is hearing-impaired, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Permanent.

 

- If only some people who use the machine are hearing-impaired, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Temporary.

 

5. Press the OK key.

 

6. Press the STOP/EXIT key.
