The machine does not turn on (no power) when using batteries, how can I correct this?

1. If the machine is new just out the box, please remove the protective film from the display.  The film blocks the view, causing difficulty in distinguishing if the machine is ON or OFF.

 

Note: If the display appears to be foggy or there are bubbles, the protective film has not been removed.  

 

2. After pressing the On/Off key, press couple of the letter keys and check if the characters show on the display.

                     

3. Open the back cover and remove all the batteries from the machine.

 

4. Examine the battery terminals to see if there are any abnormalities.  They should be bright metallic appearance and look the same next to each other.

 

5. Reinstall the batteries into the machine:

  1. Insert the first three batteries (bottom set) with their "+" POSITIVE ends pointing toward the bottom edge of the machine. 

  2. Next, insert the last three batteries (top set) with their "+" POSITIVE ends pointing toward the top edge of the machine.

 

 

  1. Close the back cover.

6. Press the  On/Off button (left of the display).  

 

-         If the machine does not turn ON, replace ALL six "AAA" batteries with all new alkaline batteries, NOT just two or three batteries

 

NOTE: If using rechargeable batteries, please test the machine with new alkaline batteries. 

 

-         If the problem persists, your machine may require service. 

 

The machine has a one year limited exchange warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.
