1.  Ensure that you are logged on to your computer with Administrator rights.

2.  Close any applications running before installing the printer driver.

3.  Turn off the Brother machine and make sure the USB interface cable is NOT connected before attempting to install. If you have already connected the cable, disconnect it.

4.  If you have the supplied CD-ROM, verify the CD-ROM lists the operating system installed on your computer.

-  If the operating system installed on your computer is listed on the CD-ROM, go to STEP 8.

-  If you do not have the supplied CD-ROM or the operating system installed on your computer is not listed on the CD-ROM, you will need to download the software from the Brother web site. Continue to STEP 5.

5.  For instructions on how to navigate the Brother website to download the software, please click here

6.  Open the temporary folder you save the downloaded file to and double click on the downloaded file.

7.  Choose your Country/Language and click OK.  Go to STEP 10.

WARNING:  US English speakers should select USA, not ENG.

8.  Put the supplied CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. If the model name screen appears, choose your machine. If the language screen appears, choose your language.

12.  When prompted, connect the USB cable to the USB port on the back of the Brother machine and then connect the cable to a USB port on your computer.

WARNING: Make sure you connect the cable to the USB port, not the LAN Ethernet port.

NOTE:  Brother recommends you use a type A/B USB cable that is no longer than 6 feet directly connected from the machine to your computer.  Other cable configurations may work, but connection loss is common.

13. Turn the Brother machine on.

14. The installation will continue automatically and the screens will appear one after another.  Please wait. It will take a few moments for all the screens to appear. Do not try to cancel any of the screens during this installation.
