The duplex copy feature allows you to make a double-sided copy of two single-sided documents. The Brother machine cannot automatically copy or scan a two-sided document.

 

- To make a two-sided copy of two single-sided documents, continue to DUPLEX COPYING USING TWO SINGLE-SIDED DOCUMENTS.

 

- To make a two-sided copy of a two-sided document, go to DUPLEX COPYING USING A TWO-SIDED DOCUMENT.

 

DUPLEX COPYING USING TWO SINGLE-SIDED DOCUMENTS

 

1. Place the documents face up in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).

 

2. Enter the number of copies using the numeric keys (up to 99).

  

3. Press DUPLEX.

 

4. Long Edge Flip and Short Edge Flip refer to the orientation of the second side when using the duplex function.

 

- Long Edge Flip means that both sides of the duplex copy will be able to be read by flipping the paper on its long edge, like turning pages in a book when the original print is in portrait orientation or like flipping pages over in a note pad when the original print is in landscape orientation.

 

- Short Edge Flip means that both sides of the duplex copy will be able to be read by flipping the paper on its short edge.

 

a. For Long Edge Flip, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select: 1sided -> 2sided L.

 

b. For Short Edge Flip, press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select: 1sided -> 2sided S.

 

5. Press OK.

 

6. Press START to copy the document.

 

 

DUPLEX COPYING USING A TWO-SIDED DOCUMENT

 

1. Lift the flatbed document cover, place your document face down on the scanner glass, and then close the document cover.

  

2. Enter the number of copies using the numeric keys (up to 99).

 

3. Press DUPLEX.

 

4. Long Edge Flip and Short Edge Flip refer to the orientation of the second side when using the duplex function.

 

- Long Edge Flip means that both sides of the duplex copy will be able to be read by flipping the paper on its long edge, like turning pages ina book when the original print is in portrait or like flipping pages over in a note pad when the original print is in landscape.

7. After the first side of the document has been scanned, a message will appear asking if there is an additional page. Press 1 for YES.

 

8. The message on the LCD will change to "Set Next Page, Then Press OK". Lift the document cover, flip the document over so that the back of the document is face down on the scanner glass, and then press OK.

 

9. After the second side of the document has been scanned, a message will appear again asking if there is an additional page. Press 2 for NO. The machine will begin printing the two-sided copies of the document.
