How do I clear the flashing Paper LED and solid Error LED (lights)? The Status Monitor states Jam Tray 1, Jam Tray 2, Jam Inside, Jam MP, Size Error DX, or Size Mismatch, what should I do?

If the Paper LED is flashing and Error LED is solid, this indicates either a paper jam, incorrect paper size for auto DX (duplex), or a paper size mismatch.


1. Verify the program being printed from (MS Word, Quickbooks, etc.) and the correct drivers are loaded on the computer.


2. Check for a paper jam inside the printer:


a. Press the front cover release button and open the front cover.


b. Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. If paper is jammed, it will be pulled out with the drum and toner unit.



NOTE: Place the drum and toner unit on a piece of disposable paper or cloth to avoid spilling and scattering the toner.


c. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum by holding down the lock lever (green tab) on the right side of the drum unit and lift the toner out.





NOTE: Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, immediately wash it off with cold water.


d. Remove any jammed paper found in the drum unit.


e. Place the toner cartridge into the drum (be sure it clicks into place).





f. Reseat the drum unit into the printer pressing it in securely.





g. Close the front cover making sure it latches on both sides.


h. Open the MP tray and remove any paper from the MP tray. Close the MP tray.


3. Check if the paper tray is installed correctly as follows:


a. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.



b. Pull any jammed paper down and out of the printer.





c. While pressing the green paper-guide release lever, slide the paper guides (1) to fit the paper size. Make sure the guides are firmly in the slots.





d. Slide the paper tray back into the printer. It should slide in smoothly; if it doesn't, check for any obstructions where the tray slides into the machine such as a paper clip, pen, paper, or other item.


e. Make sure the Paper LED is off and then, the Ready LED turns green.


f. If the printer does not start printing, press the GO button.


4. Check that the paper size selected in the printer driver setting matches the size of paper you have in the MP tray or paper tray. The paper sizes you can use for automatic duplex printing is A4, letter, legal, or folio. Press GO after verifying the paper size is correct.

5. If the printer still indicates the error, perform a factory reset on the printer by doing the following:


a. Turn off the printer.


b. Make sure that the front cover is closed and the power cord is plugged in.


c. Hold down GO as you turn on the power switch. Keep GO pressed down until all the LEDs light up and then Ready LED turns off.


d. Release GO. Make sure that all the LEDs are off. 


e. Press GO eight times. Make sure that all the LEDs light up to indicate the print server has been reset to its factory default settings. The printer will restart.
