How do I clear the message "No Paper Fed" from the display?

Description of Solution 200000037288

NOTE:  The images shown below are from the representative product. Your model may look different from the picture.

1. You will need to use letter size paper for troubleshooting purposes only.

- If you have letter size plain copy paper in the paper tray, go to STEP 3.

- If you have a size paper other than letter size in the paper tray, go to STEP 2.

2. Insert letter size paper in the paper tray by following the steps listed below:

a. Remove the paper tray (1) from the machine.

b. Lift the Output Paper Tray Cover (1) and remove the other size paper from the tray.  Press and hold the green universal guide release (2) and push the front of the paper tray towards the back of the tray.   This will collapse the tray.

c. Adjust the paper width (1) and length (2) guides to fit letter size paper (LTR). The pointers (3) should line up with the indicator marks on the tray.

d. Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams and miss-feeds.

-The paper must be uniformly stacked (same size, type and weight)

-Do not use paper that is damaged, curled, wrinkled, irregularly shaped, extremely shiny, highly textured, or paper that was previously printed by a printer.

-Be sure to follow the paper specifications and paper tray capacity information listed below.

Plain Copy Paper (17lb to 32lb) = Up to 100 sheets of letter size

- Be careful NOT to overfill the tray. Doing so may cause miss-feeds or paper jams and could damage your machine.

e. Gently insert the paper into the paper tray. Be careful not to push the paper too far into the tray.  The paper must be completely flat in the paper tray or feed problems may occur.

f. Close the output paper tray cover (1).

g. Reinstall the paper tray by slowly pushing the tray all the way in.  You should hear a slight snap or click once the tray is seated properly.

3. Raise the flatbed unit (1) until the LCD displays COVER IS OPEN. Close the flatbed to reset the machine.

4. Test the machine by printing the Print Quality Check Sheet (PQCS).

a. Press the MENU key.

b. Display will show 1.INK. Press OK.

c. Display will show 1. Test Print. Press OK.

d. Display will show  Print Quality. Press OK

e. Press COLOR START.  The machine will print out the Print Quality Check Sheet.

- If NO PAPER FED continues to appear on the display, continue to STEP 5.

- If a different message is displayed on the LCD, refer to the solution for the specific message being displayed.

- If the page prints correctly and ejects completely from the machine, the issue is resolved. Press the UP ARROW key and STOP/EXIT to return to the standby mode.

5. Verify the paper tray is installed correctly.

a. Apply a slight amount of force to the center of the paper tray and try to push it into the machine. The front corner edges of the paper tray should be even with the sides of the machine.

b. On the front right side of the machine is the ink cartridge cover.  Using the left side edge of the cover as a reference point, determine if the paper tray is installed correctly.  See the picture below.  The red line indicates the left side edge of the ink cartridge cover.

-  If the edge on the right side of the paper tray is sticking out further than the edge of the ink cartridge cover (see Photo 1 below) go to STEP 6.

- If the edge on the right side of the paper tray is pushed in past the edge of the ink cartridge cover (see Photo 2 below), continue to STEP 17.

 12. Look inside the back of the machine and remove any debris (paper scrap, paper clip, pen cap etc.) that may be preventing the tray from being pushed in.  Also make sure the machine is on a flat smooth surface and not on top of a table cloth or wires.

NOTE:  If it is difficult to see inside the machine, use a light source, like a flash light, for better lighting.

-  If debris is found, remove the debris and continue to STEP 13.

-  If no debris is found, check to see if the PE Actuator is broken.  The PE actuator is the plastic white goal post object. See pictures below.
