The printed pages have wrinkles or creases. What can I do?

The solution below is to resolve the issue of plain paper printing with wrinkles or creases. If the customer only experiences this issue when printing on envelopes or thick paper, refer to the solution - "The envelopes come out creased or wrinkled? How can I correct it?" 


1. Check that paper is loaded into the paper tray correctly.


a. Remove the paper tray completely from the machine.



b. Remove the paper from the tray and set the green paper guides (1) to the correct paper size.


-  It will be necessary to hold the release levers when moving the guides to a larger size.


- The release lever for the left and right guides is located at the middle of the right guide.


-  The release lever for the rear guide is in the middle of the rear guide.



c. Make sure that the rear guide does NOT push tightly against the paper. It should be set to the position marked for the paper size that will be loaded into the tray.  If the rear guide is pushed too tightly against the rear edge of the paper, the paper may be unable to feed properly.


d. Fan the paper well to avoid paper jams or misfeeds and then load the paper in the tray.

Do not overfill the tray. The maximum paper level is marked on the right paper guide with a red line with three arrows pointing at it.


NOTE: If the machine is used infrequently, turn over the stack of paper in the paper tray. Also, try rotating the paper 180 degrees in the paper tray.



e. Put the paper tray firmly back into the machine.


2. Make sure you use paper that meets the recommended paper specifications. To prevent paper jams, misfeeds, wrinkle or crease from occurring, be sure to use paper that meets the specifications of the machine. 3. Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner.



4. Check the interior of the machine any debris or scraps of paper.


5. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum by holding down the green lock lever on the right side of the drum unit and lifting the toner out.



NOTE: Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on hands or clothing, immediately wipe it off or wash it with cold water.


6. Check the drum unit for any debris or scraps of paper.


7. Reinstall the toner cartridge into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put it in properly, the lock lever will lift automatically.




8. Reinstall the toner and drum assembly into the machine and close the front cover.


9. Resend the print job.


- If the page prints out normally, discontinue trouble shooting.


- If the page prints out with wrinkles or creases, continue to the next step.


10. Open the rear cover.



11. Resend the print job.


-  If this corrects the issue, discontinue troubleshooting.


-  If the paper continues to come out wrinkled, continue to the next step.


12. Try using new paper from a fresh ream.
