Description of Solution 200000039495

To resolve this issue, you will need to install the PaperPort Scanner Connection Tool for Windows 8 (PPScnConnTool).

NOTE:  You may need to re-run this tool whenever a new scanner is installed or a previously installed scanner is connected to a different USB port.

1. While connected to the Internet, browse to: http://supportcontent.nuance.com/paperport/14/PPScnConnTool.exe

NOTE: This link may be case sensitive.

2. If prompted, click Run.  If you are only prompted to save the file, save it to an easily accessible location like the desktop and then double-click on the file to run it after the download has completed.

3. When you are prompted that the tool will run, click Enable

NOTE: If Enable is shaded (unavailable), then the tool has been run previously and needs to be run again:

  1. Click Undo.
  2. If you are asked "Do you want to remove the application desktop shortcut? Click No.
  3. Repeat from STEP 1 or restart the application from the desktop shortcut or download.

4. You will receive a note stating: The Scanner connection is enabled.   You may place the tool on the desktop for easy future access by clicking Yes.

NOTE:  You may need to re-run this tool whenever a new scanner is installed or a previously installed scanner is connected to a different USB port.  The window will also give you the program's installed location.

5. Once the update is complete, click Close.

6. Restart PaperPort.  The issue should be resolved.

Remember:  You may need to re-run this tool whenever a new scanner is installed or a previously installed scanner is connected to a different USB port.
