When configuring the Brother wireless machine from a computer connected to a wireless network, the Brother machine will automatically be configured for the same wireless network the computer is connected to.

STEP I: Perform a factory reset on the printer network card

1. Press the UP or DOWN ARROW key to select Reset Menu. Press the OK key.

2. Press the UP or DOWN ARROW key to select Network. Press the OK key.

3. Press the UP ARROW key to select Yes.

4. Press the DOWN ARROW key to select No to setup Wi-Fi.

STEP II: Install the software

1.  Ensure that you are logged on to your computer with Administrator rights.  If you are using a personal firewall (other than Windows Firewall), anti-spyware, or antivirus applications, temporarily disable them.

2.  If you have the supplied CD-ROM, verify the CD-ROM lists the operating system installed on your computer.

-  If the operating system installed on your computer is listed on the CD-ROM, go to STEP 6.

-  If you do not have the supplied CD-ROM or the operating system installed on your computer is not listed on the CD-ROM, you will need to download the software from the Brother web site. Continue to STEP 3.

3.  For instructions on how to navigate the Brother website to download the software, please click here

4.  Open the temporary folder you save the downloaded file to and double click on the downloaded file.

5.  Choose your Language/Country and click OK.  Go to STEP 8.

6.  Put the supplied CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. If the model name screen appears, choose your machine. If the language screen appears, choose your language.

NOTE:  If the CD does not automatically run, browse to (My) Computer and then double click on the Brother icon to run the CD.

7. The CD-ROM main menu will appear.  Click Install Printer Driver.

8.  After reading and accepting the License Agreement, click Yes if you agree to the terms.

9. Choose Wireless Network Connection and click Next.

10.  Choose Brother Peer-to-Peer Network Printer and click Next.

11. If a firewall is detected, choose Change the Firewall port settings to enable network connection and continue with the installation (Recommended).  Click Next to continue.

NOTE:  If you are using a firewall other than Windows Firewall or Windows Firewall is off, you may receive a message warning you that the firewall could block network communication.

12. The installation screens will appear one after another.  Please wait. It will take a few moments for all the screens to appear.  Do not try to cancel any of the screens during this installation.

13.  Choose Yes, I have a USB cable to use for installation and click Next.

14.  If the LCD reads "Deep Sleep", press the GO key 2 times to take the machine out of Deep Sleep mode.

15.  When prompted, connect a USB cable (not included) to the Brother machine and the computer. Make sure the Brother machine is powered on.

- This step may take a few minutes for the USB driver to be installed. You will see the Found New Hardware Wizard installing the driver in the task tray (bottom right corner of screen).

- If the installation freezes at this point, verify the USB cable is securely connected to the Brother machine and computer.  Verify the USB cable is connected to the USB port on the machine and not the Network/Ethernet port.  Try connecting the USB cable to another USB port on the back of the computer. Power the Brother machine off using the POWER key on the control panel, then power the machine back on.

16.  Place in check in the Checked and Confirmed box and click Next.

17.  Your wireless network name (SSID) will be displayed, click Next.

IMPORTANT:  Some access points and routers have both a primary and guest network.  Guest networks allow access to the network Internet connection, but restricts direct access to the network.  The Brother machine should be setup on the primary network and not the guest network.

18. Your wireless network settings will be displayed, click Next.

19.  When prompted disconnect the USB cable connected to the Brother machine and computer.  The next installation window will automatically appear after the cable is disconnected.

20. The Brother machine is now connected to your wireless network. Click Next to continue to the printer driver installation.

21.  Choose the Brother machine and click Next.

22.  The next window may take a few moments to appear.  When the User's Guides screen is displayed, you can click View Manuals on the Web to view the user's guides.  The user's guides are also included on the CD.  Click Next.

23.  Environmental advice will be displayed, please read the information and click Next.
