Why is my tape separating?

1. If you pull on the tape during printing, the tape can separate.  Once it is separated, the tape cassette cannot be repair, needs to be replace. Do not touch the tape during printing.

 

Note:  After a label is printed, do not pull on the label, must cut off label from cassette tape.  If not, the cassette tape can be damaged, cause the tape to separate or cause the next label to jam inside the machine.

 

2. If the tape is out of the tape guide, it can cause the tape to separate. Make sure the clear ribbon and the adhesive backing ribbon are under the tape guide, extended past the tape guide approximately 2mm. If the color ink ribbon is loose, use your finger to wind the toothed wheel in counterclockwise direction.

 

                

 

3. If you install a new cassette tape and the problem persists, your machine may require service.

 

The machine has a two year limited exchange warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-800-255-0415 for warranty options.
