The paper release lever is not locking the paper against the platen. How can I correct this?

1.    Move the lever from the feed position to the release position and back several times.

a.    This will release the mechanism if there is mechanical binding.

2.    If the paper is still not being held by the mechanism, the typewriter will require service. 

The machine has a 90 day labor/ 1 year parts warranty. The ribbon is a supply item and has a 90 day warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.
