Why does "Replace Drum" or "Drum Error" continue to appear on the LCD after replacing the drums?

1.    When the new drum units were installed, were you able to print using the new drums and then the error appeared OR you have NOT used the new drums at all because the error message is on the display.

 

-      If you used the new drums and then the error appeared after some printing, go to solution: How do I clear the message "Drum Error, Replace the Drum Unit"?

 

-      If you have NOT used the new drums because the error message is on the display, go to STEP 2.

 

2.    Were new, out of the box drums (full set) installed?

 

-      If NO, you should install new, out of the box drums (full set) to clear the message.

 

-      If YES, go to STEP 3.

 

3.    Perform the following steps to reset the drums:

 

a.    On the control panel, press MENU, 5 (Machine Info), 6 (Reset menu).

 

NOTE: If the reset option is not available, this means "Replace Drum(s) or "Drum Error" is not currently displayed on the LCD.  The option is only available when machine has the "Replace Drum(s)" or "Drum Error" message.  Be sure read the LCD correctly.

 

b.    Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to choose the color of the drum unit you replaced and then press the OK key.

 

c.    Press 1 to reset the drum unit counter.

 

d.    Press STOP/EXIT.

 

e.    Repeat STEPs 3a – 3d for all four drums.

 

-      If the error message no longer appears, the issue is resolved.

 

-      If the error message continues to appear, repeat STEP 3 to ensure the steps were completed correctly.

 

-      If the error message continues to appear and you already repeated the reset steps, continue for further instructions.

 

If the message continues to appear, the drum units should be replaced with a new DR210CL.  The drums are consumable items that require periodic replacement.
