How do I clear the message "Unable to Init" (followed by a two character code) from the display?

Description of Solution 200000043703

The message "Unable to Init" (followed by a two character code) will appear on the display for one of the following reasons:

i.      Foreign object, such as a paper clip or ripped piece of paper, stuck in the machine

ii.     Mechanical malfunction

Verify the 2 character code displayed in the message and choose the correct option below:

a.    If the code displayed in the message is 3X, 7X, 50, 51, 52, 53, 5B, 5D or 5E, continue to STEP 1.

NOTE:  X = any character following the first number.  Ex: 35, 7A

b.    If a code other than those listed above is displayed, go to STEP 11.

c.    If the code displayed in the message is 46, refer to the solution: How do I clear the message "Ink Absorber Full" from the display?

1.  Lift the Scanner Cover to the open position using the finger hold handles located on the right and left side of the cover.

2. Do you see the black scanner cover support arm, located on the right side of the machine? See image below.

-        If yes, continue to STEP 3.

-        If no, verify you opened the scanner cover (see image above). If the document cover was opened you will not see the scanner cover support arm. Close the document cover and go back to STEP 1 to open the scanner cover.

3. Carefully check the left (2) and right (3) hand corners and the center inside the machine and remove any paper scraps that may be jammed.

NOTE: If the print head is at the right corner as shown below, hold down the red X for at least 5 seconds until the print head moves to the middle so the right hand corner can be checked.
