The message “Drum Error, Replace Drum Unit.” indicates the drums have been used beyond the expected yield and should be replaced.

 

If you replaced the drums and the message continued to appear on the display after installing new drums, go to solution: Why does "Replace Drum" or "Drum Error" continue to appear after replacing the drums?

 

Brother strongly recommends customers use only genuine Brother drum units and toner cartridges.  Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations.  Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. 

 

Using non-genuine Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability.  The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any issue caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges and toner.

 

-      You can purchase a drum set (DR210CL) which includes all four drums from a local retailer or you can purchase individual drum units directly from Brother (Part number: DR210CLCMY for individual Cyan, Magenta or Yellow drum and DR210CLBK for individual black drum). 

                                        

-      We recommend purchasing the set from a retailer since this is the more economical way to purchase the drums.
