How do I add the printer or scanner driver for Macintosh OS X 10.9 or 10.10 using a local or network connection?

Description of Solution 200000045372

Before you install the driver, please connect the interface cable or connect your machine to the network and then complete the following steps:

1. Click on the Apple icon.

2. Click the System Preferences icon.

3. Click Printers & Scanners.

4. Click the + (Plus) button located below the Printers section on the left side.

NOTE: If you receive a pop-up showing "Nearby Printers", click Add Other Printer or Scanner.

5. Click the Default icon located at the top of the window.

6. Select your machine from the Printer Name list.

7. From the Use list, make sure that you have selected the CUPS Driver (Recommended) shown as: Brother XXXXXX CUPS. (XXXXXX is the machine's model).

IMPORTANT:

-      If the AirPrint driver is selected, then you will not have the full functionality of the printer driver.  Instead, we recommend that you choose the CUPS Driver, as detailed above, for the most complete functionality.

-      For PostScript Driver installation (not available for all models):  Make sure XXXXXXX BR-Script is selected in the Use list. (Where XXXXXXX is the printer model name.)

8. Click Add. The Brother machine is now available in the Printer & Scanner list.

9. Select Quit System Preferences from the Apple Menu. The setup is now complete.
