My documents are not feeding through the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) when I try to scan to the PC or make a copy. What can I do?

1. Make a copy to test ADF function:

 

a. Verify the ADF document support (located on the top of the ADF) is pulled out.

 

b. Verify the document(s) are between 5.8 to 8.5 in. wide and 5.8 to 14in. long.

 

c. Place the document face up in the ADF. Make sure the lower part of the display reads ADF Ready.

 

- If the display reads ADF Ready, continue to the next step.

 

- If the display does not read ADF Ready, remove the documents and insert the documents fully into the ADF.

 

- If ADF Ready is not displayed, go to STEP 2.

 

d. Make sure the documents are inserted face up in the ADF, top edge first. The ADF can hold up to 35 pages and feeds each sheet individually. Use standard 17 to 24 lb (64 to 90 g/m2) paper and always fan the pages before putting them in the ADF.

 

NOTE: DO NOT use paper that is curled, wrinkled, folded, ripped, stapled, paper-clipped,

pasted or taped.

DO NOT use cardboard, newspaper or fabric.

Make sure documents written with ink are completely dry.

 

e. Adjust the paper guides to fit the width of your documents. This ensures the document(s) will feed straight, preventing jams.

 

f. To make a copy and press the START key.

 

-      If the machine makes a copy with no error message, the issue is resolved.  Document this outcome and end the call.

 

-   If the machine made a blank copy but the paper did not feed from the ADF, go to STEP 2.

 

2.  Open the top cover of the ADF.

 

 

3.  Locate the black switch to the left of the black roller assembly.

 

 

4.  Press the switch down and release.

 

-  If the switch toggles back in to the beginning position, close the cover fully making sure both corners are snapped into position and repeat STEPS 1c - 1e.
