I needed to send several faxes for a one-time deal. I seldom receive a fax, but send a few occasionally. At a dollar a pop at a store it would have cost me $75 or more. This machine has worked great from the beginning.

I've had this fax for several years and used it to send and receive legal documents. I used a calling card for long-distance faxes and the speed dial function worked well.
It's jammed infrequently - when I put in dogeared GOOS (good-on-one-side) paper. It sometimes grabbed the last 2 or 3 sheets when the paper tray was near empty. Machines will tend to jam under high humidity, after getting crud (old ink, etc) on the rollers from re-using certain papers, using heavier weight paper, or running stapled paper through the rollers.
The print quality has been just fine and sending tends to be problem free.
If you receive faxes infrequently, it is a good workhorse. If you need a high-volume machine, move beyond the budget category.

I love both of my Brother printers, but this fax machine is a real loser. Never worked right from the start. I've given up the this fax machine.
