Once installed the unit worked very well. Quality prints , copies, and scans
To get there-another story:
Installation was problematic. Th PDF software took over an existing installation of NITRO - this required cleaning up the mess , re registering and that only after significant time analyzing an approach. Why the install didn't recognize the existing install and at least ask - I don't know.
Regarding scanning - and this is true of our 9560CDW as well
The scan interface is at best difficult. Setting changes require restart of the system -WHY??? Our "P" scanner doesn't.
And the file management is somewhat convoluted
Still our history with Brother products for reliability has been good
They make good, reliable hardware. Perhaps they can learn to improve the human interface

When the PC first came into existance I was working on one. So I have owned many printers of all major brands over all of those years, but never a Brother. I've had this printer only a couple of months and will say it is the best printer I have ever owned. It's fast, easy to use, and relaible. No software gliches like I always used to experience with HP printers. I vowed to never buy another one. Once you own a Brother you will never go back.

I use my 7860 in my home-office, and it is fantastic. The only thing missing is color, but that was a conscious decision on my part to go with a black-and-white only printer. It does scan and fax in color.

I needed to get a duplex printer and have wireless capabilities. My current printer was a Brother hl2170 and I have loved this printer, so where could I go but to Brother for my next printer. The MFC-7860DW met all my requirements. Easy set up and consistent performance.
