product fine, installation difficult
March 10, 2014
By jans from Tennessee
I have wireless windows 7 computer and software, and Saturday could not load the installation disc. After 3 hours of trying, the disc would not recognize the printer using the provided instructions.
It took a call to the help line on Monday, and he was able to use the advanced installation which finally worked.
The printer works fine now and I am pleased with it. However the installation was very difficult.

Great Printer
March 4, 2014
By MWR1937 from Kenmore WAS
We've had it running for only a few day, but found it a great improvement over an earlier model. two-side printing save a lot of paper (my wife's a writer). Only wish the TN-780 was compatible with the machine (12,000 copies per toner cartridge).

OK, but scanner com drops offline.
February 2, 2014
By captbill from Reno
I have to keep reinstalling the MFC-8810DW software because the scanner stops communicating. This occurs when my laptop computer is disconnected and reconnected to my LAN following a business trip. This loss of scanner com occurs doesn't occure until I have disconnected and reconnected my laptop to my LAN. When I reconnect via wired LAN, the sanner can't find my laptop anymore. However the printer and fax which are also LAN-connected DO communicate and work fine. I'm using a wired LAN. No USB connection. No WiFi. When I run the supplied Brother scanner diagnostics, it reports all MVC-8810DW functions are connected and communicating. However, when I try to scan a doc into my PC, the scanner cannot find my PC and sends a pop-up message to that effect on my laptop screen. Very frustrating. Otherwise, all the other multifunction systems work as-advertised.
