This is the third Brother printer I have bought, and the first one is still working without a hitch with my Mac. The first, an HL-1470N, is a b/w printer with good speed and no problems in @ 14 years. The second is a b/w MFC 8440 with which I added scanning, copying and fax capabilities. Again, good speed and no problems in @ 8 years. I used these in my solo law office to make, in some instances, voluminous filings, which were always on time. They worked for me in my small practice as well as the high-volume machines in large law offices.
This 9650 adds color and wireless scanning and printing. The WiFi scanner needs coaxing at times but eventually works with Image Capture or PDFPenPro. I could connect via USB or network cable, which might make it less fussy. Printing is very good, and the curling issue that plagues Brother printers is absent on this machine. The color seems fine to me so far, but I have no sophisticated needs and have not tried photo paper yet. The WiFi installation occurred as if by magic.
One drawback to this machine concerns envelopes. The manual says that to print an envelope or thick paper, you have to open the back of the printer, throw a couple of plastic switches, close the back and print, then reverse what you did to print ordinary copy paper. Horrified, I tried an envelope without going through all that malarkey and it got through OK. I will consider following their instructions when I print on photo paper.
My only carp is that the second paper trays that I bought for my prior machines are no longer supported, so I cannot use one tray for copy paper and the other for bond paper.

Like most everything about this machine except how you remove the finshed printed paper (slightly awkward), otherwise Great!

I buy only Brother (I own over 20 pieces of hardware; from $150 mobile scanner to $700+ color laser all in one's). I bought my first in 1992 and never could kill it; it lasted over 10 years until the MS OS would no longer support it. It never did die; so I had to get another one. It's gone from one measley ol laser printer; one of the originals to a stable of nearly 30 pieces and they all serve me extremely well except for the darn wireless; enought to drive me crazy. Main reason I buy this hardware but it never seems to work right. Wish they would fix it to work as easy as turning on a computer for the first time.

This printer is a state of the art. Prints color or just black and white, wireless, and fast. Works as well as a commercial machines. Try the fax receiving program, you will love it.
