Expensive, only fair prints, wireless is sketchy
March 30, 2014
By Sank from Minnesota
Purchased at Office Depot based on the recommendation from the sales guy for an easy to use, quality printer with wireless capabilities. What I've found with this printer is the quality of the output is poor compared to other printers I've owned. Pages are dull, colors aren't bright, black and white isn't crisp.
The wireless functionality works fine with my PC"s but for my Mac's it often doesn't work. I've had to reconnect this thing three or four times in the last 6 weeks that I've owned it. If I could take it back I would in a heart beat, but Office Depot charges a restock fee and it's been a couple months. Definitely wouldn't buy this printer again.

Brother Copier

The MCF-J510DW is working great. easy to setup the wireless, easy on ink, and replacement cartridges are easy on the wallet compared to others. It uses up the whole paper tray without jamming.

Worst printer ever
March 18, 2014
By Altosinger from Severna Park, Maryland
This is the worst printer I have ever owned (I couldn't give it less than one star, but I wanted to). I have owned it for about a year and it has never really worked properly. The paper feed in the back (for card stock and photo paper) doesn't work at all. We bought the printer for its wireless capability and it loses connection with the network every month or so. The latest time it lost the connection, I reloaded all of the drivers and now my computer won't connect with it at all (despite the fact that the printer itself claims it is connected with the network). This is the worst experience I have ever had with a printer and I will be going back to my trusty HP. The only thing I like about this printer is that the color cartridges are individual so that you only have to change the color that is out instead of wasting ink to change a whole case when it is only the yellow has run out (for example).

The MFC-J4510DW supports two types of scanning to an e-mail (Scan to e-mail and Scan to e-mail Server). Scan to e-mail: Scan to e-mail allows you to scan a document and have it automatically attached to an e-mail in your default e-mail application running on your computer (you must have a working e-mail application running on your computer). If you have installed the Brother MFL-Pro software suite using the included CD-ROM you will have an application called ControlCenter. This application must also be running on your computer for scan to e-mail to work. When you select scan to e-mail the machine will scan your document and automatically open your default e-mail application on your computer were you can enter the destination e-mail address. The document you scanned will be an attachment to that e-mail and is sent using the e-mail application on your computer (the e-mail is not sent by the MFC). Scan to e-mail Server: The Scan to e-mail Server allows you to enter an e-mail address directly at the machine and send your document as an e-mail attachment directly through an e-mail server to the destination without using your local computer. Please note that the Scan to Email Server function can be downloaded fromhttp://support.brother.com/g/b/index.aspx. This feature requires POP3/SMTP mail server support. After the POP3/SMTP mail server/account information is configured correctly in the MFC you will be able to select “Scan to e-mail Server” form the control panel of the machine. From there you can enter a destination e-mail address or select one from the internal address book. Then simply press start and the document will be scanned and sent to the e-mail server that will then forward the e-mail to the final destination. Details on Scan to E-mail and Scan to e-mail Server can be found in the Software Users Guide located on the installation CD-ROM and on the Brother Support web site.
