Meh. . .

Pros: Good for routine plain paper printing. Scanning and copying are OK. Quite a few features and the NFC capability is nice for printing directly from your smartphone. I haven't tried printing a CD yet, but it's nice that it has that capability.

Cons: Color photo printing produces inaccurate colors, kind of dull instead of having a bright pop. The color balance adjustments don't seem to get you there and frankly, I've had better photo prints from a $49 Canon cheapie.

The printer does not have a slot for sheet feeding, but rather a tray that holds both letter-size paper and 4" x 6" photo paper. Switching between the two is easy, but using a different size photo paper requires removing the regular paper from the tray and replacing it with the photo paper. A bypass sheet feeder would have been useful. If it's there, I haven't found it yet.

Also, with my setup the scan function can't be activated from the printer's touchscreen - it can be used only with the ControlCenter utility from the PC. This is less annoying than the worthless conversation with tech support, where I was asked to try a seemingly random series of tweaks and then blown off by being told to contact my operating system's tech support. An email to the support team got me nothing more than a link to the installation instructions.

Upshot: The price was very reasonable but, by trying to cram too many features into that price, Brother put out a machine that has weaknesses in the core features that most users need most often. I have not used the fax features, so cannot comment on them.

I like it a lot but: The instructions for scanning to file should be clearer. I have not found how to setup to print from a desktop not on line or a network and wired connected to the printer AND a laptop with WI-FI. Help!

Love my printer.

A friend recommended Brother's printers to me as I went wireless.
I did some research and decided on getting a Brother's printer.
I found it easy to hook up and no problems with using it. I feel like I found a new friend.

Thank you.

This printer goes offline all the time, required re-set initial settings. The fax caused my telephone not to work.
