Front operation
The front-loading configuration enables routine operation and maintenance to be carried out with minimum
effort. Subsequently, space around the Brother Color Laser Series can be used more efficiently.
1. Paper loading and output is carried out from the front.
2. Replacing supplies is also carried out from the front.

USB Direct Interface
Use the USB direct interface to print and/or save data without a PC connection.
1. Directly prints data stored on a USB flash memory drive1.
2. Support for PictBridge allows direct printing of pictures from PictBridge-enabled
digital cameras2.
3. Directly store scanned data in USB memory (MFC-only).

Tilt-up panel
A three color tilt-up LCD enables users to readily see the printer's status.

Paper handling
In addition to a standard up-to-250 sheet paper tray, two additional trays* can be used: A built-in multipurpose up-to
50 sheet tray for letterhead and envelopes and an optional tray can be added to hold up to 500 sheets. This
results in an impressive maximum paper capacity of up-to 800 sheets. Note that this optional tray cannot be added
onto HL-4040CN.
