Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst MFC invented by Brother I have been using for over 2 decades. Many of them were excellent. laqst year bought MFC 8510DN, within two months it needed service. Lasted just over a year before it started getting paper stuck and out of focus printing (fuser issue). Unfortunately I bought bunch of genuine toners and drums so I ended up buying another of theses MFC8510DN. Just over a year same problem, printing out of focus and paper getting jammed. My secretary is absolutely furious of removing jammed papers. After you remove it will try to print the same again and will get stuck again. Never ending torture. Bad decision. Sadly I still have DRs and TNs for this,. Save yourself from pain to you and your staff by not getting this for free.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT what expected Orig MFC was awesome - had 2. Discontinued. Went to replacement, OK not as good as first. Next repl, had to go with another, very poor quality totally, lasted less than a year, problems whole time. Got this one, discovered AFTER getting that while it does duplex, it does not do copy 2 sided and other things. Very disappointed. After 6 Brother MFCs with each one being lesser quality, next time will look at other mfgs offerings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good printer My 8510DN is a factory rebuilt and has performed well. Recently had to replace fuser. Brother replaced fuser at no charge, I paid labor because it was out of warranty. The discouraging part of this is that when I called customer service they were NOT AWARE of a service bulletin on this printer. If they are not aware then who does the average Joe call for help. Fortunately for me I bought mine through a Brother dealer and one call to him and his revealed the Service Bulletin. Parts were back-ordered and took 2 weeks to receive. Installed next day. Back up and running. I think print quality is a little better than before...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love my Brother printers! Bought this to replace my Brother MFC 7840W - it still works, but needs a new fuser and I wanted something faster. The MFC8510DN is very fast (as long as it isn't in quiet mode which really slows it down), clean printing, same easy plug-and-play Brother features. I love Brother printers. This one is very loud which is why only 4 stars. Otherwise, great!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Picky about paper Purchased to use in a tax office which was a mistake. Full tray of paper and you get repeated "out of paper" errors with an obnoxious beeping (or better yet "bleeping") alarm signal. Seems that Brother thinks their machines have a pedigree and they will dine only on high-end paper. Instead of $3-4 a ream, expect to pay $10-15 for the upper-crust laser paper to prevent the "out of paper" false error. A real waste. This is my 2nd Brother laser printer. Will be my last.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Purchase and Service Had the MFC-8510DN for only a couple months when we needed to change the toner. After doing so the printer would only print blank pages. Went through the "LiveChat" option to find a resolution and it was finally concluded that it was a machine malfunction. Was told that I would receive a call in two hours to find out how a replacement machine would be sent.....4 hours later received a call from a rep, went through the steps necessary to find out the machine could not be sent our by the US location. Had to contact Brother Canada "LiveChat" and go through the process again. Anyways finally after new machine was sent to incorrect address finally received a replacement. Hopefully this machine lasts longer than two months.

Fuser issue on this generation We have installed over 50 of these in the field since they came out (had been installing previous generation 8480/8860), more than half have been replaced due to a fuser related issue, some happening within months of purchase with very low volume printing. Text start coming out fuzzy and blurry on ALL prints. All printers have been MFC-8510DN, I'm sure other models in this product line will also have the issue. Brother does everything in their power to refuse warranty repair, buyer beware!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse we have several of these in a warehouse environment, and they take the abuse day in and day out. I initially installed it as a printer, but the *USERS* figured out scanning on their own - the user interace is just that easy. We used to have IT change toners and drums, but the users have figured out how to do that, and just let us know when its time to order more. great printer, great price.
