I purchased this scanner from Office Depot, and it works great. My cable also had the warning tag previously mentioned but it came off cleanly. My scanner serial number was also short one number, but no big deal. Set up was easy and quick. I plan to use this scanner only with my laptop when I'm away from the office.

this item did not have the 14 lnumbers Brother states are required to register, but had only 13. The cable supplied by them had a warning tape to download software before installationl. The tape stuck to tip, and did not properly remove, and needed cleaning before it could be inserted into port. Brother tech help never considered their product was faulty, but rather told me I had to try it on a different computer with different cable. I asked to speak to supervisor, and was told a return call would be made. No call was made, nor any emails sent.

This product does not work correctly with Windows 7 64-bit. The drivers will install but it appears to be impossible to calibrate the scanner. It worked fine on Windows 7 32-bit but was unable to function after a reinstall to 64-bit. When I was running 32-bit, the scanner worked well but did require cleaning from time to time. It is inexpensive and has a very small footprint.
